:: Outside Javelin City Capitol Building ::

The walk for Trax had been brutal and he was pretty confident that someone from Starfleet had been following him. But, every time he would look over his shoulder nobody was there. The crowds of civilians opening shops that morning were there. When he walked past the convention center it was also buzzing with activity due to preparation for the festival.

The Bolian shivered as he dug his hands into his pockets and started toward the entrance to the capitol building. He was to meet with Jade in her office there before the final session of the year with the senators. Her message had said it was urgent, but as he reached up for the door it seemed to stretch away from him.

He wobbled slightly as his head started to feel like it weighed a metric tonne on his shoulders. Trax reached forward for the door again and then he stumbled slightly to the left. 'Drugged... I've been drugged,' He thought to himself wildly. Then everything around him went dark as he noticed people walking past him. He could hear them talking, but couldn't make out what they were saying.

Then someone was there kneeling in front of him, but he didn't recognize the person. He tried to speak, but his ears didn't register his own words. It was as if they ignored him anyway. He blinked a few times trying to fight off the wave of tiredness before finally drifting off.

When Trax awoke he was tightly bound to a chair in the middle of the room. He looked around while feeling his heart in his throat. "Wha... Where in the hell am I?" He asked. Then it started to come back to him, "I was outside the capitol building and surrounded by people..."

"Not an easy feat to pull off I assure you," Dorian said as he slipped from the shadows, "But I assure you... Nobody noticed because they all thought you were drunk or something. And with me telling them I was taking you to the hospital..." He shrugged as he placed his hands behind his back.

"I think getting you out of the capitol went far easier than what you would anticipate." Dorian pointed out dully.

Trax stared at him, "You're the editor for the Federation news paper here on the planet... Everyone will immediately know it was you when I don't show up at the hospital, and Jade will..." He couldn't quite get the words out.

"I wouldn't worry too much about that," Dorian told Trax. "Jade didn't actually send for you because that was me. As for the people recognizing me... I was wearing a disguise so nobody will know it was me. Sure, they'll figure out eventually that you didn't arrive at the hospital.

"That's not exactly my problem though," Dorian said with a snicker. "You'll find yourself in a restraining field and tied to the chair because I didn't want to take any chances."

Trax growled weakly, "Let me guess... Nika put you up to this... She's a bitch and you shouldn't listen to her Dorian." He began to shout.

"Nika?" Dorian asked as he came to a stop while staring at the fingernails on his right hand. "Nika has little to do with this. She also had nothing to do with the Admiral's death... Pity that the Federation thinks it was you."

Trax tried to wiggle a little bit and quickly found that he couldn't move. "That was you?" He demanded.

Dorian laughed, "Of course it was me you fool. Did you honestly believe that the Admiral was going to do you any good? Also, you didn't just betray the trust of Nika, but someone else. And, I'll let you in on a little secret," He leaned forward and lowered his voice to a whisper.

"There are a lot of bodies that Starfleet is going to find and eventually they'll find you too... But they're so slow to figure out who's behind it that I'll be long gone before they find this place." Dorian said.

"Can't we talk about this?" Trax asked as he began to panic, "Latinum? Is that what you want?"

Dorian leaned back slightly, "Oh I don't do this for Latinum," He said quietly, "I do this because I enjoy it. Did you think that kidnapping a little girl and then being pardoned for your crimes would protect you?" He asked rhetorically, "Don't worry about Nika she'll get what's coming to her eventually too."

Trax was confused, "You work for her though? You're doing this for her though..."

Dorian shook his head, "I'm not doing this for Nika nor am I some vigilante trying to clean up the planet. I work for someone much more powerful than Nika, or you." He said. "I'm going to savor every moment of this too." He said quietly.

Dorian turned and pulled a table that had been sitting in a shadowy section of the room closer to him. He uncoiled a bundle of instruments that were mostly unidentifiable. "Kaleb screamed the entire time let's see if I can make you scream too."

Trax stared in horror at the table full of instruments, "Whatever it is that you want just tell me," He said. "If it's information or a way to take down your enemies I'll gladly give them up... Secrets?" He asked.

"Begging," Dorian said, "I love begging," He said as he partially sat on the table and crossed his arms. "I'm not interested in anything you've got to offer I'm afraid. And this certainly isn't for any trade secrets that you may or may not have. No..."

Dorian shook his head very slowly, "I'm going to do this purely for my pleasure," He said.

Trax looked up at Dorian with a narrowed gaze, "That makes you a bigger monster than I am."

Dorian's expression immediately shifted to something far more neutral, "I'm far more than a monster," He said. "I enjoy the pain of others because I feel nothing..." He pointed out. "Now then," He looked over at the table until he found what he was looking for.

"Let's see if your blood is still blue?" He asked quietly and picked up a scalpel from the table.

Trax watched in terror as the instrument was picked up and brought to within centimeters of his fleshy arm. "No..." He said and felt the first cut as it crossed over his arm. It was white hot and it burned almost as much as it stung.

"If you're wondering," Dorian pointed out, "This is coated with a toxin that in large doses causes intense pain. It takes a lot before it kills," He said as he continued to slide the blade up the man's arm.

Trax wasn't wondering, but his heart was beating so fast that the toxin sped the process and he started to feel really warm. The pain began to sear across his body to the point that he eventually passed out...
