Mission: Episode 12 - When The Bough Breaks
Location: de Planca Cottage, Oar's Rest
Timeline: Day 3 at 1219
1113 words - 2.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Reality for Danielle was knowing that her father was okay and that her sister was okay as well. The harshest part of that reality was knowing that friends may not have survived and families across the planet were in the same situation as well. She sat on the sofa at the de Planca's cottage eyeing Kayla carefully.

"Have you heard anything about your Mom?" Dani asked her.

Kayla shook her head, "Not yet," She answered. "The last anyone knew my Mom was on the space station, but she could have made it to the planet before that. So far they've not found anything that said otherwise."

Adriana felt sorry for her friend, "I wish there was some way we could help." She said quietly. Adriana was watching Lauren who was cooing away on a blanket at her feet. With her parents both busy handling other matters it was up to her to play babysitter.

Ashley laid on her stomach near the baby and was entertaining her in any way she thought possible. "A lot of Starfleet families are currently staying in cottages across the planet." She said suddenly, "Chialek is staying somewhere else and I miss him terribly."

Elizabeth frowned when her little sister had said that, "I know you do." She said. They had limited communications across the planet so a lot of messages had to be relayed with someone running a datapad on board a shuttle. "What about your parents and brother?" She asked Rose.

Rose smiled, "They are staying in the cottage on the outskirts of Oar's Rest." She answered. "I think my brother was trying to contact Trevor the last I knew."

"Where's he even at?" Kayla asked.

Riley shrugged, "The Reade's are in Barcombe and from what I understand their family home survived the event. Right now, I think they've got some people staying with them. That's what Dad was saying anyway."

Kayla breathed a sigh of relief, "Probably the Hoseki's..." She managed.

Jami nodded, "Yes, the Hoseki's are staying there with them. Well, at least Teagan and her Mom. I think her Dad has been staying at the hospital?" She asked and went into thought.

"Nope," Adriana said, "He's been sleeping on a cot at the hospital. My Dad said he'd probably be sleeping there tonight so I won't see him until the morning." She would have rather been there with her parents than not be.

Elizabeth frowned, "I know your parents are probably the busiest people on the entire planet."

"Yes,' Adriana replied.

Riley knew that couldn't be easy as she slid to the floor and grabbed one of the toys to hand to Lauren. "With all that's going on I don't doubt they are very busy. Teagan's Dad has been running shuttles nonstop since those Ortani things were taken care of."

Danielle shuttered, "I don't want to think about them right now."

"None of us do," Rose answered her. She was too busy thinking about how the school had been lost. They didn't know what was going to happen from one moment to the next and she knew her parents didn't either. "I just wish there was some way for us to help."

"We could go see Arika, Leah, and Bianca in the hospital maybe?" Danielle suggested.

Jami shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know if we can or not. From what I heard they weren't going to stay overnight now that things have gotten better for them. The Doctors aren't quite as concerned as they were to begin with."

"At least they found them," Ashley answered. Her own ordeal earlier in the year had made her extra cautious. And, she certainly knew what the girls were going through after having been taken just like she was. But, at least they knew who had taken them.

For Ashley things were still a little fuzzy even if she could remember bits, pieces, and some names. "And, at least they'll be able to get through it together."

Elizabeth wanted to reach out and hug her sister because she really wondered if her sister would ever get over everything. And, she wasn't entirely convinced that her sister was being completely truthful about her time on the station alone. Instead she held onto Rose's arm without realizing she was doing so, "What about our other friends?" She asked.

Riley didn't know the answer to that question, "I'm not sure," She admitted.

Jami had overheard her mother talking earlier in the morning, "Matthias is okay and so are the Grayson twins. I think all of our closer friends have been found so far. But, they are scattered and unable to talk to each other. Plus, their parents are busy just like ours."

"Just like ours," Danielle muttered under her breath, "I don't think that's going to change any time soon. What do you think'll happen to us?"

Adriana shrugged, "I wish I knew."

Kayla tried her best to smile as she thought about what they knew, "At least it's not worse than that. I just wish that we knew where my Mom was," She said heavily.

"So do we," Riley agreed.

Elizabeth then heard the communications system going off, "Well, that best be important," She said suddenly before jumping up and walking over to the communications device. "Oh, it's a message." She said, "It's for you Kayla."

Kayla got up and walked over rather quickly in order to see what the message had said. She noticed that it didn't have a pass code or anything and didn't seem to have any priority notices.

Miss Holtz,

This is to notify you that your mother has been found alive. She was injured when one of the buildings in Javelin City was hit by the Ortani attack. Based on what little we've gotten from her it was while she was trying to evacuate the building. Your mother is resting at the Starfleet Medical Center and you can visit her in a couple hours when she wakes up. In the meantime stay at the de Planca house.

Iazil Naadel
Executive Officer, Commander

Kayla immediately grinned, "She's okay," She said.

Adriana peaked up, "They found your Mom?" She asked.

Kayla nodded, "I got a message from Commander Naadel saying that she was found in Javelin City and transported to Starfleet Medical Center for treatment. It said I can visit her later too when she wakes up."

Jami smiled, "Some good news," She said with relief. Jami was thankful that this meant their parents were all accounted for, but for many others across the planet she knew that wasn't the case. And, that it probably wouldn't be good news for them at all...
