Areth had made a point to pour out four glasses of water for each of his guests that would be joining him. It was time that they attempt to figure out how to handle the growing threat posed by the Tiutchev Syndicate and the ambitious woman that they'd allied themselves with.

"I'm sure each of you are wondering why I would call an emergency meeting for the Cabal," Areth stated as he stood at the head of the table. "We are here to discuss the Syndicate that is ran by Nika Tiutchev and how we want to handle it moving forward."

He looked at Lynn, "I know you've not been too involved with the problems surrounding this situation, however, it has come to my attention that Nika is trying to butt into the business matters as determined by our group. When we formed this group it was to help keep prices and competition down."

Lynn sighed and rubbed her forehead, "Ever since that accident stuck me in this bloody hoverchair, I've been out of the loop on a lot of things. But you're right on that point, Areth, I haven't been involved. With my business currently picking up the pieces...him butting in doesn't surprise me at all."

"That's okay," Areth told her. He then looked at Varrick and Howard Morgan so that they had a chance to chime in whenever they were ready to do so. "I'll let Varrick explain a little better." He said suddenly.

Howard looked at Areth for a moment and wondered if the man had figured out that he was behind the entire ordeal. It was probably true that the man was, in fact, aware of that. Seeing as how he'd yet to be asked for his own opinion on the matter anyway.

Varrick was trying his best to distance himself from the situation, "Tiutchev has been paying a freighter under the table in order to run goods for her. That violates the agreement between the Cabal and her business. However," He looked towards Areth.

"I thought we'd cleared that matter up?" Varrick asked.

Areth sighed heavily, "We have. But, I don't foresee it remaining just as cleared up as it is now. She's an ambitious woman," He answered. "So, I was thinking that we would prepare to sanction her business. Lynn have you had many dealings with her?"

"Any my business is in such a dangerous spot right now," Lynn finally said, "That she'd likely come at me full force. I haven't dealt with her other than in passing. She hasn't touched my business...yet. I'm afraid of what might happen if she does."

Varrick raised his hands while looking at both of them, "We have powerful friends in both the senate and within the central government for the planet. The new Governor is also a big supporter of the Cabal mostly because we gave her the votes she needed.

"I wouldn't worry too much about her coming after us," Varrick stated. He looked at Howard Morgan for a moment, "Is there anything you'd like to add Howard?"

Howard nodded, "I've attended several of her meetings and right now she's more focused on getting her bouncer and enforcer in line than she is with a business war. If we can keep her that way then we could certainly keep her on the defensive and out of our hair."

"What are you proposing?" Areth asked.

Howard shrugged, "I'm simply proposing that we secretly fund whatever Trax Balar is planning on doing. My understanding is that he was planning on leaving the planet if he hasn't already done so."

"Strange," Varrick stated. "I didn't know he was going to be doing that. Do you have any ideas as to why he would have left the system?"

"Most likely to conjure up more allies for whatever cause he plans on having happen here." Howard answered. He looked at Areth and Lynn, "I recommend that once Balar's true plans are revealed to us we continue on waiting."

Areth nodded, "And, how will that happen?"

"Parin was one of the people who went off to speak with Trax right before he left. I'll speak with the Ferengi and see what he says then I'll report back to Varrick so that he can reveal it to the rest of you."

"Are we sure about secretly funding this? I mean..." Lynn looked between them, "I'm picking up the pieces as it is. Can any of us afford it? But if he was planning on leaving, I'm betting he already has."

"The latest thing I've seen is that he has," Areth answered her, "I'm also not too keen on funding Balar either, however, it's the best lead we've got. And, it would possibly derail anything that Nika may have planned. Varrick when will you speak with Governor Engstrom next?"

"Tomorrow," Varrick answered.

Areth nodded, "Good good," He said. His features then softened up quite a bit as he looked at Lynn, "For now I think the best thing you can focus on is getting well again. I've sent funds to your account to help cover any expenses you may have. And, the advancements in freighter engine research can wait we're doing great."

"Same with any other projects you have going on," Varrick told her calmly, "The big thing is to focus on getting well as Areth pointed out. If you need anything just ask when you have a chance and I will see what I can do."

Howard nodded, "Yes." He said with a smile.

Lynn smirked a bit, "I know I know. That's what I was told by my therapist too. Some of my expenses are going to be making the doorways wide enough for this damned hoverchair. At least I can feel my legs and move them a bit...but they just aren't working like legs are supposed to anymore." She looked at all of them again, "Thank you guys, really."

"You're welcome," Areth said. "Well, I don't think there is anything else to add unless someone else has something to say?" He asked them.

"I don't," Lynn said.

Varrick thought about the question for a moment then shook his head, "Nothing from me."

Howard didn't have anything to say and simply shook his head.

Areth clapped his hands together, "All right until the next time we have a meeting in a month or so," He said. Then indicated that it was okay for them to leave the room and let him be at peace.

Howard walked out of the room wondering when it had been decided that Areth was in charge of the cabal. This was meant to be a joint venture not a one man's show, but he said nothing of it. It would take too long to put Areth in his place anyway. And, what Areth didn't know wouldn't kill the Andorian anyway.
