Mission: Episode 7 - When Worlds Collide
Location: Main Operations, Vidal Fleet Yards
Timeline: Day 7 at 1119
1034 words - 2.1 OF Standard Post Measure

The beginning of the day had been predetermined as a pretty big step for Brandon because not only were they launching two of the Ascension Class starships that had been under construction for months, but they were also launching the eight engines for Project Long Jump part two. He had taken up his console and prepared for the event.

"Dry dock control is ready and standing by for procedures to disengage the clamps holding the ships in place," He commented.

"Very good," Iazil said. She knew that the ships were supposed to have launched two days earlier. But, because of the dinosaur thing they had to delay a lot of things. Now the Captain and some others were up in Main Operations with them which was perfectly fine.

Iazil also knew that the diplomatic meeting with the Dominion had gone well too, but had to be delayed to another time. That ship had already departed earlier in the morning. "Captain to Operations," She said idly.

Neela stepped out of her office and walked halfway across main operations before taking up her usual spot. "Report please?"

Chelsea was at her area when she was working from Main Operations instead of her office. "The USS San Antonio and USS Austin report that both vessels are ready for departure from their dry dock slips. Their skeleton crews are set to depart and head for the Sol system."

"I've cleared the traffic pattern," Reid said from his station, "And, the transport ships that are to tow the eight engines for Project Long Jump part two are waiting to enter the system. Once the two Ascension class ships have cleared their dry docks they'll be issued the entry permissions."

"Excellent work," Neela said and turned towards Tolam, "Anything Commander?"

Tolam shook his head, "I just wanted to see the action," He said with a grin on his face. Tolam didn't actually have to be there in main operations and did have a lot of paperwork that he needed to do. But, had welcomed the distraction for the moment.

Chelsea smirked, "Ready when you are Lieutenant Kerr."

Brandon nodded and released the final cables and docking clamps that were holding the Ascension class starships. "Ready," He said without looking up. But, he did offer them all a nod of his head at the same time that he'd said that he was ready to go.

Reid issued the orders, "Orders away," He said. Then he switched the viewer so that they could get a glimpse of both drydocks. The USS San Antonio departed from her berth before the USS Austin moved out. The entire procedure took less than thirty minutes to complete.

Reid issued the next set of orders, "Alright, both vessels have headed for the departure lanes from the station. I've cleared them for full departure and the tow ships have entered the system. They are staging near the eight engines to begin the tow procedure."

Chelsea looked at her console, "There are two escort vessels with the tow ships, but they shouldn't be needed. The engines are slated to arrive in the Sol system where they will be attached. The procedure should take one month to complete if that."

Brandon nodded, "That's what Starfleet Engineering had estimated," He said. This was an important project, "I understand that they were waiting a while for some supplied and other items. Once the engines are there along with the ship they can begin phase two."

Iazil was grinning, "Release the docking clamps and connectors from the engine systems. I'm assuming that the traffic lanes have been cleared again as well?"

"Yes," Reid answered quickly.

Brandon had already been in the process of doing so and it took him a little longer than it did with the two starships. He knew that both of them had already cleared the system by now. And, could see that traffic patterns were holding steady like planned.

"Clamps and connectors are released," Brandon stated.

Tolam was spinning in his chair a little bit as he watched. He'd reached over and adjusted the viewer so that they could see the eight engines as they were released from their docking berths. This would clear up ten drydock berths or something like that. He couldn't recall the exact count, but it was a nice thing.

Reid watched his readouts carefully as the tow ships pulled away from their berths while pulling the engines. The entire group took up positions along the outer ring of the system after clearing the asteroid field. "They are engaging their warp engines now sir."

"Very good," Chelsea said with a smile as she stood up.

Neela turned and looked at the group of engineers, "When are the USS Willows and USS Vancouver slated to depart from the station?"

Brandon set to work looking at the PADD in front of him, "Two days from now," He answered the Captain and looked up. "And, then we will have twelve open berths. But, I have a whole list of new requests," He stated quietly.

Tolam nodded, "Starfleet has issued a new set of ships that they want to be constructed and we've got some ships coming in for refits."

Neela nodded slowly again, "I know it's not feasible yet, but I would like for us to start sectioning off drydocks soon. We need to make sure that certain ones stay open for emergency repairs... You know the drill." She grinned at all three of them before they left.

Iazil stood near the Captain, "You've picked this engineering stuff up quickly Captain I'm impressed." She said quietly with the same level of a smirk that she typically had when the Captain and her spoke on the side.

Neela returned the smile, "I still don't know what I'm doing half the time," She said with a shrug. It was true too... Half the time Neela didn't have an idea as to what she was doing or how she was doing it. The Haeva mission wasn't entirely successful, but she was looking forward to returning on a ship. However, she thought that perhaps when they went back out it was going to be the Exec running the show for that one.
