The paperwork had mounted in the past ten days for the Chief of Strategic Operations. Starships that were once being repaired or refitted had departed from the station with the number of ships operating in the area increasing. There was even rumor that a Cardassian warship was coming to pay them a visit.

The Klingon Officer was in command of Main Operations and was trying his best to dispel other rumors, "All I can say is that it's classified," He told the Lieutenant who was asking him questions.

"I'm not saying whether or not it's classified," Lieutenant Jones said to the Klingon officer. "I'm just saying that I heard in this other timeline the station hit the planet as if it were an oversized asteroid and we all died..."

Gredrol rubbed his brow firmly, "Stop you're scaring the Ensign," He said when he noticed that Ensign Barrett had started to tremble. He raised his hands, "We aren't going to talk about that this evening anyway..."

Admiral Karin Mayra hadn't been able to sleep, too many things running around in her head. But now she needed something to maybe tire her out. So, she randomly made her way to Main Operations, though she wasn't really even on duty. She caught the end of a conversation and sighed, leaning against the wall near the door. "Weren't going to talk about what? Wasn't meaning to eavesdrop."

The Lieutenant's eyes immediately went wide, "I didn't know you were..." His voice trailed away when he noticed the stare that was filled with daggers from the more senior officer on duty.

Gredrol was rubbing his brow again, "It's nothing important Admiral just rumors about how in this alternate timeline the station exploded and everyone died," He said then noticed that the Ensign was afraid again. "It didn't happen Ensign relax."

Putting up a hand, Mayra smirked, "I'm not technically on duty. I just couldn't sleep and wanted something to make my mind tired. So...figured I'd come up and see what is going on." When she heard about what they were talking about, she sighed softly to herself. "How did that start going around?"

Gredrol wished he knew, "Rumors on this station always seem to spread like fire Admiral," He told her with a shrug of his shoulders. "The junior personnel then have sporadic moments of panic when they hear them. I honestly don't know how this one started."

"I think I do. But...even if it did happen, it doesn't matter now. I've talked to Temporal Investigations myself." Karin's eyes turned to the junior officers, "Nothing to worry about, at all. Rumors are rumors."

"This is quite true," The Lieutenant said with a grin on his face, "Have you tried warm milk? I've heard some of my human friends mentioning that it helps you sleep sometimes. Not that we don't mind your company up here Admiral," He said with a reassuring smile on his face.

To be honest Gredrol had realized just how boring night duty really was. There was a limited number of ships that pulled in and out of the system. The drydock slips were, for the most part empty, and other traffic was minimal. He knew that some engineering work got done, but most of the work was done by the day crews.

"I've stood my share of evening duty and it's always very quiet," Gredrol admitted to the Admiral. "But, it's best that way so not to wake the Station Commander when she's sleeping. Or, the baby," He commented. Gredrol knew that Lauren had been born a couple days ago. Or, so he had heard anyway.

"Warm milk and me have never gotten along. It upsets my stomach. Wandering around a night? That tends to help, unless you're stopping rumors from the junior officers on the night shift." Karin grinned and wandered a bit, looking over the information on the consoles, an old habit. "But waking up the Station Commander right now? Not the best thing to do. Though, I'm sure there are times she is awake taking care of the little one. The life of every new parent."

"At least she has Doctor O'Malley and Adriana O'Malley," The Ensign said from their console. They had calmed down slightly from the sheer shock of the conversation earlier. The Admiral had gone a long way in helping with that anyway.

Gredrol nodded, "That is quite true," He remarked with a nod of his head. "Wearing yourself out by walking around is probably pretty effective. For instance when I cannot sleep I have some bloodwine and brandy it helps put me to sleep after some time. Though, drinks like that aren't exactly everyone's forte I suppose." He scratched at the base of his chin, "Certainly not..." He muttered and shrugged.

Karin nodded, "Glad I could help with the rumors and things. But now, I think I'll try to sleep again. Maybe I'll be able to, maybe not, who knows. However, I can't let insomnia get the best of me." She gave them smiles and headed out, hoping now she could sleep.

Gredrol smiled, "Get some rest Admiral," He responded and watched as she left Operations. He turned towards the others, but said nothing to them instead he began to focus on the amount of work that he had been doing.
