Mission: Episode 5 - Past Consequence
Location: Bridge, USS Agaki
Timeline: Day 01, 1846
939 words - 1.9 OF Standard Post Measure

Commander Varaak had his arms crossed over his chest as the Vulcan looked over the shoulder of the science officer, "Do we know what that even is?" He finally asked after a time. The Vulcan Exec tilted his head slightly, "The sensors are indicating something quite strange."

Tara shook her head, "I haven't the slightest idea what that is sir," She said and looked back over her shoulder towards him. The ship had been on patrol near the Ivaldi III system for hours. "Another chroniton field it looks like sir," She said.

"We probably should gather some of the particles," He said and turned to face the Operations Officer. "Lieutenant Maven can you prepare the collectors so that we may gather some of the chroniton particles." The Vulcan officer said before finding his way back to the middle of the bridge.

Maven nodded, "Aye sir," The Benzite operations officer responded to the request before his fingers went across the console. The particle collectors were deployed and the particles began to pull them inside of the vessel. "I will have the sample sent to science lab three."

Varaak nodded his head once, "Understood."

Once the samples were there for Tara she remotely began the analysis of them. "Strange," She stated after the analysis had begun. "These chroniton particles indicate that a vessel went from the past to the present," She looked over her shoulder once more.

"Commander, these particles are pretty decayed as well I would say this vessel shifted into our time several hours ago." Tara told him before transmitting the report to the small console next to the Commander. "I'm not entirely certain what to make of this."

Varaak looked at the small console screen on the armrest for a moment, "It may be related to the missing girls," He admitted. "But, then it may not be related to the missing girls. Weren't the reports of them being aged several years or something?"

"Yes," Tara said quietly. She got up and walked around the bridge so that she was in front of the Commander. "Unless that large group of warp signatures that were reported by our outpost came from the past?" Tara questioned quietly.

"Doesn't matter," The voice was Captain Maria Ochoa as she came out of her. She crossed the bridge, "Vidal Fleet Yards is requesting assistance immediately. That large force that was detected is reported to be heading towards the system."

She made it all the way towards her seat and waited for the Commander to slide over one chair. "Helm set course for the Ivaldi System at maximum warp."

"Aye sir," Came the voice of the Ensign sitting at the helm.

Varaak moved over to his chair, "How long before we arrive in the Ivaldi system?" He asked the Operations Officer. Varaak got himself comfortable in the chair and leaned all the way back into it.

Maven looked over his console once, "Commander we should arrive in approximately fifteen minutes. The USS Portland and USS Langton have also confirmed the orders. Both vessels should arrive at approximately the same time as us."

"What about that large force?" Ochoa asked.

"About the same exact time," Maven said quickly. "We should prepare for combat operations." He looked over his shoulder, "Otherwise we run the risk of not being prepared when dropping into a potential combat situation."

Tara was still analyzing the chroniton particles, "That concentration of chronitons was far larger than it being just one starship. I would say that there were multiple vessels," She commented.

Maria was listening to the recommendation of her operations officer when she heard the science officer stating something. "Relay a message to Starbase eight twelve that we've found those chronitons and send your results with the message."

"Understood," Tara said. She then put everything into a data packet and sent it off to the station. "It'll get there before we will," Tara commented.

Maria nodded, "Thoughts Commander?" She asked addressing her Exec specifically.

Varaak was thinking it over, "I think we should proceed with caution and prepare for the possibility of having to enter that system firing. We should go to red alert," He stated quietly.

Maria grinned, "Starfleet was right to offer you that promotion to Captain," She told the Vulcan officer. She didn't understand why he didn't tell her about it and she had to learn about it from Command. "Have you decided whether or not you will take it?"

Varaak had been offered the promotion to Captain and his own starship to command. "I haven't decided yet Captain," He answered her. "Go to red alert and prepare for battle stations and combat operations." The klaxons began to sound loudly.

He looked at Maria, "If I took that position you would be without your Exec," Varaak told her quietly. "I don't know if I could do that to you just now," He concluded.

Maria grinned, "I think I'll live," She said and patted the Vulcan officer on the shoulder. "You deserve the promotion and your own command. I've already begun considering a replacement Exec anyway. I know that may not be what you want to hear, but it's true."

Varaak flashed a smile, which was something he never did, and quickly returned to a more neutral expression. "I don't take any offense to the comment Captain. I'll make a point to speak with Command after this," He concluded.
